Sustainable Native Communities Initiative
Who We Are

Who We Are

The Sustainable Native Communities Collaborative is a group of community designers, architects, emerging professionals, development leaders and sustainability advocates. We are all invested in affordable housing and sustainable projects in rural and tribal communities, and we collaborate to provide those communities with better access to green building resources for long term sustainability. We are currently working with our non-profit partners and volunteers to provide pro bono services for the Sustainable Native Communities Initiative.

Jamie Blosser, AIA, LEED AP, founded the Collaborative as a result of her community design and architectural work linking cultural sustainability with environmental sustainability. Enterprise Community Partners is a primary partner of the Collaborative, bringing the resources of their Rural and Native American Initiative, the Green Communities Initiative and the Rose Fellowship in Community Architecture. Ed Rosenthal and Rose Marquez of the Rural and Native American Initiative are key partners in the Collaborative.

Other partners include Architecture for Humanity, both the national chapter and the newly formed New Mexico chapter, who will provide outreach to include other designers and architect volunteers who are interested in participating in the Initiative. The Collaborative is also developing a forum for a growing network of emerging American Indian Designers, at the endBlog. We continue to grow our network of community designers and sustainability advocates. It is our hope that through this website and our work on the Initiative, this network will continue to grow and flourish.
